Tree Service in Coplay, PA

Coplay at a glance

Coplay is a small borough of 3,348 people (2020) on the Lehigh River, about 5 miles north of Allentown. It covers just over half a square mile.

What that means for your trees

Coplay's compact streets of older homes leave little room to drop a tree whole. Removals here usually come down in sections, lowered carefully between houses; see tree removal. Narrow streets and parked cars can limit where a truck and chipper can set up, so mention access when you request a quote.

River trees

Trees near the river grow fast in moist soil but can have shallow roots that loosen in saturated ground. Silver maples and other fast growers planted along the river grow large quickly and often have weak wood and tight forks.

From Schreibers to the furnaces

Coplay was part of 400 acres that John Jacob Schreiber bought from William Penn's heirs in 1740, and it was first known as Schreibers. It later took the name Lehigh Valley after the Lehigh Valley Iron Furnaces located here. Many homes date from the borough's industrial years, and the trees planted beside them have grown to tower over roofs and wires; see trimming and pruning.
