Tree Service in Macungie, PA

Macungie at a glance

Macungie is a borough of 3,257 people (2020), the second-oldest in Lehigh County, southwest of Allentown.

What that means for your trees

Macungie's historic center has older homes on narrow lots with mature street and yard trees. Pruning and careful sectional removals are common jobs; see trimming and pruning. Street trees on narrow lots near Main Street can spread over sidewalks, porches and neighboring roofs, and the borough may have rules for trees between the sidewalk and curb.

Near the mountain

Homes toward South Mountain have more woods nearby and more storm debris. Wooded areas toward the mountain and Macungie Memorial Park mean more limbs and leaves to clear after storms.

Feeding place of the bears

The name comes from Maguntsche, a Lenape word meaning bear swamp or feeding place of the bears, and the borough seal shows a bear drinking among cattails. Peter Miller founded the town as Millerstown in 1776, and it became a borough in 1857. During Fries's Rebellion in 1800, federal marshals made arrests here over tax resistance. Trees in the old town have grown up alongside its 19th-century houses, and many now need regular care; see tree health checks.
