Tree Service in Orefield, PA

Orefield at a glance

Orefield is a community along Route 309, split between North and South Whitehall townships, with the 18069 ZIP code. It was once home to Parkland High School.

What that means for your trees

Many homes are in developments built on former Pennsylvania Dutch farms, where hedgerow trees and old farm trees now stand beside houses. Some are big, old and due for an assessment; see tree health checks. Old sycamores, oaks and walnuts from former farm hedgerows can be enormous, and their size alone means they need professional assessment before any work.

Creek valleys

Covered bridges cross the Jordan Creek nearby, and trees along the creek can be undercut by floods. Homes on slopes down to the creek may also have trees whose roots are exposed by erosion, which weakens their hold.

An ore town

Orefield is named for the deposits of limonite, a kind of iron ore, once mined here, and it was the end of the Ironton Railroad's Siegersville Branch, built to haul the ore. As farms gave way to subdivisions, many lots kept a few old trees, often in spots that are now close to homes, driveways and decks. Those trees may need cabling, pruning or removal; see cabling and bracing.
